Harriet Tubman Healthy Living Conference

home-onionsFor the past several years, we have joined the Julius Ford/Harriet Tubman Healthy Living Conference [JF/HTHLC],  in organizing a week-long intensive gathering for urban young people of color, educators, community leaders at Earthdance rural retreat center, to engage in identifying aspects of healthy living, critical thinking, and communication skills,  integrative arts and performance, nutrition, contemplative practices and sustainable living.  The conference community JF/HTHLC recognizes the reality of longstanding racial oppression and economic inequality experienced amongst urban youth and other underrepresented groups of young people and therefore aims to create an inter-generational experience that will provide tools, possibility and space for participants to empower themselves with support, encouragement and love.  We are delighted that young people from our partnering groups, Nuestras Raíces and Holyoke Food and Fitness have been able to travel from Holyoke to Earthdance in Plainfield for the annual conference.
